A friendly collie named Max ended up in a rural shelter in Oklahoma infected with heartworms.
The potentially life-threatening disease can cause irreversible damage to the lungs and heart, including heart failure. He needed to begin treatment immediately.
Max patiently waited for someone to come rescue him from the loud noises and stressful shelter life. Oklahoma Pet Collective Society saved him and started treatment to kill the foot-long worms.
Max quickly stole the hearts of staff and volunteers with his good looks, kind heart, and “distinctive trot and pony-like gait”.
He is devouring the nutritious pet food that your donations helped provide as he continues to recover.
