Heartworm-Positive Shelter Dog Steals Hearts of Staff and Volunteers Caring for Him – Blocklines

Heartworm-Positive Shelter Dog Steals Hearts of Staff and Volunteers Caring for Him

A friendly collie named Max ended up in a rural shelter in Oklahoma infected with heartworms.

The potentially life-threatening disease can cause irreversible damage to the lungs and heart, including heart failure. He needed to begin treatment immediately.

Max patiently waited for someone to come rescue him from the loud noises and stressful shelter life. Oklahoma Pet Collective Society saved him and started treatment to kill the foot-long worms.

Max quickly stole the hearts of staff and volunteers with his good looks, kind heart, and “distinctive trot and pony-like gait”.

He is devouring the nutritious pet food that your donations helped provide as he continues to recover.

His caretakers told us, “Whether he was playing, cuddling, or simply being lazy, Max spreads joy wherever he goes. Max’s story is a testament to the resilience of rescue dogs and the power of love and care in overcoming adversity. As he continues on his journey towards recovery, Max reminds us that every dog deserves a second chance at happiness.”

Max is finally getting the treatment he needs, but there are countless more dogs in shelters waiting for a second chance.

Donate now to help provide food to feed them while they wait to be adopted.
