Nearly 70 Dogs Being Rescued from Dog Meat Farm in South Korea – Blocklines

Nearly 70 Dogs Being Rescued from Dog Meat Farm in South Korea

Humane World for Animals (formerly called The Humane Society of the United States) takes a stand for animals worldwide. They continue to push for laws to protect animals and end suffering, including banning dog meat farms.

Last year, South Korea announced an historic ban on the dog meat trade that will take full effect in 2027. In the meantime, Humane World for Animals is doing all they can to help save dogs and puppies from this cruel industry.

That is why their Animal Rescue Team immediately departed for South Korea when they found out about a dog meat farm still slaughtering dogs.

The team arrived along with Kyra, video producer for Humane World for Animals, who is documenting the rescue to show the world why these farms need to be shut down. She said, “the situation is heartbreaking”.  She recalls a pit bull named Theo, like many others, struggling to stand in a wire cage with no relief for his sore paws and living in squalor.

Many other dogs were leery of people, as they should be due to their prior experience. One of the rescuers, Georgie, shared a clip of a terrified dog named Cardamon and wrote, “Cardamom spent his life living in fear, trapped in a wire cage on a South Korean dog meat farm. Never knowing if his next meal would come. Never getting to run or play. Scared and alone day after day, waiting to die.”

All of the 69 dogs deserve better. The team is on the ground ensuring the dogs will not suffer one more day and finally get them the care they need.

Despite all the suffering theses dogs have already endured, several wag their tails and hold on to a sliver of hope that things will get better. Like puppies Cinnamon and Ginger, who have never experienced love or played with a toy.

They are finally safe and will get to live the life they deserve. Georgie states, “We won’t stop until all of them (dog meat farms) are shut down for good.”

More help is needed

Sign the petition below to tell Vietnam to ban the cruel dog meat trade. Every year, an estimated 5 million dogs are captured or stolen and brutally killed. This must end!
