I always said when I retired from my full time job I would get a dog to live with me and my 2 cats. I was in a bad car accident, then needed a new hip so I retired and I realized life is short so why wait for the perfect time to rescue a dog.
I went on Petfinder for weeks looking at all the wonderful dogs that needed homes, and then I saw this little, scruffy face and knew he was the ONE for me. I filed the adoption papers and got the call.
His name was Alfie, now known as Cooper A. Mullahy and he was in shelter in Tennessee. He was rescued by the shelter the day another shelter was to euthanize him.
When I think of that it breaks my heart. I arranged for a doggie transport from there to Brattleboro, VT where a friend and I picked him up 2 yrs ago September.
Cooper has been a joy and a challenge and I love him dearly .And we all live happily, ever after.
