After Their Human Went to Hospice, You Helped Feed Two Dogs

Two dogs, one painfully shy, recently lost their home due to their owner’s illness, but you helped make sure they had what they needed during this difficult time.

A mini-Australian shepherd named Cinda, short for Cinderella, and a female shepherd mix named Dave recently found themselves in the care of Henryetta Animal Aid & Rescue Team in Oklahoma. This was because the dogs’ human had been diagnosed with stage IV cancer and had needed to leave them behind for treatment. She had asked a friend to stop by regularly to check on them and feed them, but when she ended up in hospice care, further help was necessary.

The rescue says, “Cinda was always happy and outgoing, Dave was super shy. She had no intention of going anywhere with us at first. But after several visits, we gained her trust and were able to load her up. Cinda happily tagged along! Once in our care, we began to make friends with Dave. Cinda even got to go visit her mom in hospice care! What a delight for both of them.”

HELP FEED SHELTER PETS

During this time of transition, and confusion for the pups, basic care was also needed, and you helped provide that. With your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations, Henryetta Animal Aid was able to ensure the two pups had plenty of nutritious food while they were in their care.

For Cinda, that time wasn’t overly long. Her peppy personality worked in her favor, as one of her human’s friends asked the rescue if she could adopt her. With one pup settled, shyer Dave is still waiting for her second chance at a happily ever after, though the rescue says she is enjoying pets and hugs from staff. She’s also got a full belly to sustain her during her wait, thanks to you!

With your support, pets in need, like Dave and Cinda, are much better off than they would be otherwise. One of the programs they benefit from is our partner Greater Good Charities’ GOODS program, which includes pet food deliveries from suppliers that have extra they can’t sell.
