Courageous Woman Devotes Her Life to Saving Animals from Frontlines in Ukraine

The Animal Rescue Site and GreaterGood have been supporting the people and pets of Ukraine since the war began over three years ago. We continue to stand with Ukraine, with your support.

Animals are still in need of rescuing from the shifting frontlines as calls for help continue to come in.

Brave men and women continue to risk their lives to save these innocent animals from destroyed building and war-torn streets. Heroes like Krystina.

Meet Our Hero – Krystina.

She was an architect student when the war began and has since devoted her life to saving and caring for animals.

As relentless bombings continue to destroy villages and homes, Krystina continues to head into war zones to save the animals left behind. She climbs over fences and digs through rubble for survivors.

This fearless warrior has saved hundreds of forgotten, abandoned, or lost animals – and her work is far from over.

While her rescue missions have not been without injury, she continues to forge ahead into danger to save the innocent.

When she is not rescuing animals, she is caring for them and continuing to expand her animal shelter located in Podilsk, Ukraine, called Under the Sun.

Under the Sun Shelter

She started with a destroyed home and a few panels of damaged fence on a downhill property. Along with a small staff, she has transformed the property bit by bit into a shelter with kennels, fencing, a rebuilt home with electricity, and much more.

While there is still more work to do, it is a safe haven for hundreds of rescued dogs until they can find a loving home.

However, like all animal shelters in Ukraine, she struggles to find enough pet food. When the preferred dry dog food is not available, she makes porridge for the dogs. This is not a viable solution in the summer as it will quickly spoil with the heat.

Donate now to help feed the hungry dogs.

Each dog is sterilized, vaccinated, and treated before they are put up for adoption. She works with animal rescues in other countries to find homes for the dogs. While her goal is to find them all homes, she understands that some will remain at the shelter for the rest of their lives.

She welcomes all dogs, including ones traumatized and reactive from their experience in war zones.
