Over 100 Neglected Dogs Rescued from Deplorable Conditions in Rural Washington

It’s an all-hands-on-deck effort to save dogs from a severe hoarding case in rural Washington.

Local officials, volunteers, and local animal rescue Paws and Claws Pet Rescue worked together to rescue over 100 neglected dogs from a home in Albion.

The dogs were found living in squalor and ankle-deep feces. Most have never stepped outside and are terrified of humans.

Rescuers said all dogs are in need of medical care and several are pregnant. They are suffering from fleas, tapeworms, malnutrition, matted fur, rotting teeth, and many more ailments.

The dogs were rescued in batches and each new group arrived with medical issues. Rescuers told us, “Most of the dogs have required dentals, extractions, and one had a tumor removed. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we expect conditions of animals to get worse as we progress in the project.”

The terrified dogs are being examined, treated, and getting much-needed grooming. The vet bills are piling up and the rescue needs your help to care for these poor dogs.

Local news KREM2 reported, “Staff and volunteers have already contributed 850 hours and more than $30,000 in veterinary care, food and supplies to the effort — and there are still more dogs to save.”

The goal is to treat, sterilize, and socialize each dog so they can find a loving home. These dogs have been through so much and deserve to experience love for the first time in their lives.
