Over 20 Dogs Living in Squalor Without Food or Water Rescued from New York Property

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society assisted Albany County Sheriff’s Office in rescuing dozens of neglected animals – including dogs, horses, chickens and pigeons – from a New York property.

Many of the horses and dogs were emaciated from months without proper food and water. No shelter was provided for the poor animals from the extreme weather, and many need medical care, like dogs Jazz, Rock, and Opera.

It is a miracle they survived in the sweltering temperatures without food, water, or shelter. “When offered water, it was finished before the buckets or bowls were filled,” recalled rescuers. “These dogs were free-roaming on an unkempt farm littered with soiled crates. There was no power in the house, which offered little to no sanctuary.”

All the dogs are being treated for fleas, worms, and tick-borne illnesses. They are finally being fed nutritious food, which they are devouring. Join us in helping three of the more serious medical cases out of the twenty-two dogs rescued.

Jazz is struggling to breathe and may be suffering from organ damage. She needs further testing and constant monitoring.

Rock is not bearing weight on her left hind leg and has a broken pelvis. She has a long road to recovery ahead.

Every step Opera takes is painful. She needs patellar luxation surgery and weeks of rehabilitation for her best chance at making a full recovery. These poor dogs have been mistreated their whole lives and deserve a second chance.
