Break-ins and property crimes increase around the holidays, but the culprit in a break-in at a Virginia liquor store will have you laughing out loud.
The masked bandit apparently fell through a ceiling tile of the Ashland ABC Store after hours on Black Friday and began ransacking the bottom shelves of liquor.
Several bottles where broken and others were tossed aside as if he was looking for something in particular.
After getting more than his fill, he headed to the bathroom where he was found passed out by Officer Martin with Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter.
The unusual call came in on Saturday morning and Officer Martin is being praised for how she handled, “this chaotic scene with professionalism and good humor.”
The intoxicated raccoon was safely transported back to the shelter to sober up. The shelter shared photos on their Facebook page and wrote, “After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer.”
As you can imagine, this story went viral. Followers couldn’t resist commenting on the hilarious situation. Raccoons are intelligent animals, but many people were amazed he headed to the bathroom after his binge. Just imagine the story he will have to tell, if he remembers it.
