Shelter Cat Pounces On Top of Visitor She Wants to Take Her Home

I was a sophomore in high school, and it was just a couple of weeks after I’d lost my kitten Baby to a hit and run. My mom decided to surprise the family by visiting a local shelter to look at cats.

From what she keeps telling everyone, the room the cats were in was completely full. She could not move an inch there were so many, so she had a hard time trying to find which cat to adopt and take home to the family. Just when she thought she wouldn’t find the one that day, a little black and white cat, perched high up on a ledge, jumped down on top of her and made the decision for her. It was love at first pounce.

When the cat came home that evening, she immediately ran past everyone and jumped straight into my lap. She purred and rubbed up against me, taking away quite a bit of the pain from my recent loss. From that day on, the little cat became known as Jamie, and she has brightened everyone’s lives for the past 10 years with her squeaky mews, loud purrs, her queen bee attitude, and many lovely gifts brought home from her hunting trips around the yard. My family could not have asked for a better cat.
