A stray puppy suffering from a deadly disease and other trauma survived and is now brightening the days of her forever family, thanks to you.
Riley came into the Arizona Humane Society when she was just 15 weeks old. This tiny girl, who was living on the streets, was suffering from parvovirus and had limited mobility due to severe trauma to one of her legs. The shelter says the odds were stacked against her, but they got to work trying to save her life.
Riley was put into AHS’s specialized parvo ICU, but she needed extra protection due to her weakened immune system. That’s where you came in. Thanks to your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations, Riley received flea and tick prevention medications during her recovery through our partner Greater Good Charities’ GOODS program.
AHS says, “This protection allowed her fragile immune system to heal without the added stress of parasitic infections, which can be especially dangerous for dogs recovering from parvo. Ultimately, Riley’s injured leg had to be amputated, but her spirit never wavered. As she healed, she revealed a joyful, affectionate, and resilient personality. Staff and volunteers quickly fell in love with her gentle nature and playful energy.”

Her gentleness and love of fun soon caught the eye of would-be adopters, and she’s now with a forever family who calls her “a total warrior with the heart of an angel.” Her missing leg isn’t slowing her down, either, as she’s an avid fetcher.
